D'Banj and Don Jazzy made too much money - Dele Momodu

D'Banj and Don Jazzy were "brothers from another mother" who probably made more money than they could handle, Nigerian media guru Dele Momodu has revealed. In an article for YNaija the publisher of Ovation Magazine and failed Presidential aspirant narrated the Genesis to Exodus of his long and colourful relationship with the estranged friends and business partners who built and then let crumble Africa's most successful record label Mo'Hits.
Struggling to figure out how the bosom friends lost their sense of direction to become victims of their own success, Momodu laments - "Reading the exclusive interview D'Banj granted Ayeni The Great recently, Mo'Hits must have made too much money. In the process, my brothers must have forgotten the truism that wherever too much money is gathered the demon must make itself Executive Chairman. They obviously did not see the omnipotent demon walk into their lives."
Momodu estimates that at the hight of their Mo'Hits partnership, only the twin duo P-Squared rivalled or even beat D'Banj and Don Jazzy. So we're all agreed on it, perhaps someone did let money get to their head but the question is which one of the two? Is it the hyperactive Oliver Twist crooner or the laid back MAVIN beats maker?

D'banj goes Spiritual

Don't get it twisted. Never mind that the UK re-mix of his last Mo'Hits endeavour Oliver Twist is currently trending on social networks and destined to sell like hot cakes in the coming days, if his latest post on Twitter this morning is anything to go by, we can say that from the lyrically PHILOSOPHICAL, the Koko Master is now going SPIRITUAL so get ready for morning devotion according to Pastor D'Banj...

Ghanaian actress Nadia forced to learn to act

Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari who once compared herself with Halle Berry seems to have found her level in Hollywood. A little birdie tells the SPY that the over-rated actress has now enrolled in acting classes in the home of film making. LMAO! That's a surprise! This Ghallywood product was reportedly upset when she was referred to as Halle Berry's fan after she posed with the Hollywood superstar in a photo some time ago - basically saying that she and the multi-award winning screen icon were equals! She even went as far as revealing that she had acquired an apartment in Hollywood.
Lo and behold, someone needs extra lessons in the game. Apparently after receiving a few knock-backs in her search for big roles, it finally dawned on her that her speech and delivery of emotions are not up to scratch. Well, the SPY says - We live and learn... water will always find its level.

Married star Aki seen hanging out with babes

We don't want to be bearers of bad news but we have to report that tongues are already wagging over the fresh -ish marriage of  Nollywood star Chinedu Ikedezie better known as Aki.
The famous diminutive actor married Nneoma Nwaijah last November but was seen without her at the recent African Movies Academy Awards (AMAA) - an event which presented itself as the perfect opportunity to show-off his new pride and joy. Unfortunately Aki erred on the side of indifference so instead of taking his Missus along, our spies spotted the ladies' man buried  in the midst of a bevy of hot chicks. Naturally, this has prompted inquisitive observers to wonder if after barely four months the broom needs changing already....

Wiz - The Tatoo Kid

One of Nigeria's hottest teen idols of the moment Wizkid is now sporting a second tattoo on the back of his right arm - complimenting the one he already had on the left. The SPY can't quite make out what the old design's about but apparently, the new indelible body art is the name of his baby daughter Morayo which is just as well. Being so young and highly in demand by female admirers, it would have been foolhardy to have the name of the first baby mother tattooed instead as you'll never know how many more Baby Mothers are going to follow... Just a thought!
Well, for now, his UK fans are bursting with anticipation as the countdown to his Cokobar sponsored tour continues. The dates to remember are Sunday 3rd June 2012 at the Manchester Bird Cage and Monday 4th June 2012 at the London HMV Apollo.

Can't go into details now as I'm off to a meeting but you can read the gist at http://lindaikeji.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/video-man-stuck-inside-woman-after.html#more

Should 2Face have married Annie?

The website Nigeriafilms.com has just published an article attempting to generate a debate over 2Face Idibia's choice of Annie Macaulay as his Queen over his other baby mothers.  Their argument is that perhaps 2Face should have gone for Pero Adeniyi or Sumbo Ajaba

SPY OPINION - Late Yekini and Mental Healthcare in Nigeria

This is a rare Editorial by this blog and it is hoped that the subject doesn't fall on deaf ears. With the recent passing away of Nigeria's football legend Rashidi Yekini and the sad revelation of how his failed mental health went untreated, many questions are flagged up and need to be answered by the Nigerian government as a matter of urgency.
From all  available accounts so far, it appears that Yekini did not get the treatment he needed largely due to the late Super-Eagles star's refusal - which in his state of mind was not too surprising - but also due to a failure or complete lack of a mental healthcare mechanism to the point that when his desperate family rallied to the local governor for assistance, the deranged national hero still could not be persuaded.

Ashawo Baby for Flavour Nabania

Nigerian Highlife superstar Chinedu Okoli best known as Flavour Nabania is being named as the father of a new born baby girl whose paternity is causing a
huge scandal in Uganda. The hunk  who's famous for hits like Oyi and Ashawo and was once linked with Tiwa Savage after their steammy video collabo on the re-mix of Oyi reportedly had a sexual encounter with Ugandan high society girl Shanita Namuyimba popularly known as Bad Black during a tour last November.
Bad Black, a well documented notorious flirt had maintained all along that her British born boyfriend David Greenhalgh who has continued to dote on her - despite her frequently declaring that she didn't love him - was responsible for the pregnancy which she failed to carry to term due to fatigue. However following the induced birth, observers have now ruled out Greenhalgh as the father of the premature baby due to her dark complexion and although Black has been linked with a string of other men, the timing of Mister Kporonkoto's purported night of passion with the baby mother for which she reportedly paid him $10,000, seems to red-card him as the biological father.
When the SPY placed a long distance call to Flavour's manager Benjy in Nigeria for a statement he was not available but a colleague who answered our call denied the allegation.

D'Banj congratulates Don Jazzy as fans embrace MAVIN's Solar Plexus

Amid a frenzy of rave reviews, enchantment and widespread acceptance of the first musical offering from Don Jazzy's new label MAVIN by his fans, Mo'Hits 'prodigal son' D'Banj has congratulated his friend and former partner via Twitter. This further corroborates our speculative report earlier today that the feuding friends were still collaborating behind the scenes. See their respective tweets...
PS - The SPY has selected its favourite three of the thirteen tracks on MAVIN's debut album  Solar Plexus and we bet they will win awards for the new label. Listen to them at the top of the page and comment freely.

BBA Star Game - Angolan quits

Barely 48 hours into the Big Brother Star Game we have our first upset as one of the Angolan pair suddenly breaks down and opts out.
Twenty-four-year-old Esperanca model who was not even in line for eviction refused to confide in Big Brother the reasons for her decision simply saying its personal and that her mind was made up so there was no talking her out of it. In light of this development, its not clear how Esperanca's departure will affect the game plan as her partner Seydou is left to go it alone.

Don Jazzy v D'banj = Business As Usual!

Whilst the likes of us are pre-occupied with trying to figure out what really went down between Don Jazzy and D'banj, the SPY suspects that the two smart dudes are collaborating behind our backs as if nothing happened... Just take a look at the Koko Master's latest tweets:

Is this the real meaning of MAVIN Records?

Pranksters on Tweeter have come up with an alternative but rather curious meaning for the successor to the
defunct Mo'Hits Records label MAVIN -
                  MOHITS ARTISTES VERSUS ILLUMINATI NIGGAS
Hmmmmm! We wonder why Don Jazzy went to all the trouble of putting the Dictionary meaning of the word on the new label's website. Is it simply to show the correct pronunciation or to distract wordsmiths from its true meaning? Comments please....

Sassy Nollywood actress launches fashion range

Nollywood actress Adaora Ukoh has just launched her fashion range presumably for plus sized women christened as Adaora Couture  where the SPY's Fashion Police arrested her posing with colleague Monalisa Chinda. Every media outlet refers to her - the one with boobs spilling out of control - as "Sexy and Classy" but the SPY says she's down right SASSY with no class. What do ya think?

Is Ini Edo pregnant?

Is she, or is she not? That's the BIG question... The SPY's just receiving info that sultry Nollywood actress Ini Edo may at last be expecting her first baby.
Our source could not confirm the news but a Nigerian tabloid Top Enquirer in its latest edition also carries the story that Edo who married her Prince Charmin in the US three years ago may be pregnant.
The SPY says - No wahala, the interesting thing about pregnancy rumours is they don't require a Press Statement or even a Tweet to get confirmation. All we have to do is w8 n c! Innit?

Don Jazzy counts on Press and Fans as he launches new Label

Mo'Hits is dead, long live Mavin! Yes,  that's the name you'll have to mention with caution hence forth because its the new label just floated by Mo'Hits brain box Michael Collins aka Don Jazzy, following his fall-out with friend and former partner D'Banj and the ensuing implosion of Mo'Hits.

Breaking news - Nollywood actress Sisi Carol is dead

Nollywood has lost another household personality. Reports just reaching the SPY say Cassandra Gabriel popularly known as Sisi Carol in the hit Television  show Face 2 Face died yesterday. Unconfirmed sources disclosed that she may have suffered from breast cancer.

Late Yekini was "mental" - Mom says!

The SPY has just gathered that the late Nigerian soccer star Rashidi Yekini was mentally ill. According to Supersports his grieving mother Alhaja Sikuratu Yekini confirmed that he had been unstable since 2010. The ex-Super Eagles striker whose daughter Yemi Yekini is the  Commissioner of Sports in Oyo State of Nigeria had refused treatment the mom said adding that Yekini claimed to be mentally sound even though he acted irrationally including burning his entire belongings.

"I won't quit until I get an Oscar" - Jimmy Cliff

Reggae legend James Chambers better known as Jimmy Cliff says his induction in 2010 to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is only a stepping stone and not a signal he's about to retire. After fifty years in the business, the singer whose starring role in the film The Harder They Come turned reggae into a global phenomenon in the early seventies told French television station France 24 this morning he wont quit till he gets an Oscar because as he put it, "Acting is my first love".
