Nadia Buari and Majid Michael |
Ghanaian celebrities of mixed race parentage are under attack! Everyone knows that you cannot mention two "A" list Ghanaian celebs without stumbling on one of mixed race. Well, call it what you will... racial discrimination, ethnic cleansing or harmless curiosity? Fact is the Spy has just gathered that sections of the blogging community and social media commentators in that Country have launched an open attack on the stars prominent amongst whom are Ghollywood actors Majid Michel, Nadia Buari and Van Vicker. The bigoted commentators are challenging these illustrious fellow country men and women of theirs to produce their non-native parents for all to see or else... However, exactly what purpose ogling of the faces of these men and women will serve and what the curious cats intend to do afterwards remains to be seen. But going by the contents of a piece posted on a prominent Ghanaian blog it appears that some powers and principalities are losing precious sleep over the mystery surrounding the whereabouts of the parents in question whose progenies also include well-known faces like Nikki Samonas, Deborah Vanessa and Menaye Donkor. Whilst writing this piece, I placed a long distance telephone call to a close Ghanaian contact of mine in Kumasi and the person seemed to corroborate the interest being expressed in getting acquainted with these "missing celebrity parents".

Van Vicker |
Ghanaians are on the one hand baffled to see that unlike typical 100% Ghanaian celebs, (since I don't know how else to distinguish them) these mixed race ones' parents do not appear to play any perceptible parts in their lives and on the other hand, the mixed race stars tend to carry themselves as if to to say they're a cut above the rest. To fuel the fire, it has also been alleged that the mixed race actors tended to always land the juiciest and more lucrative roles in Ghollywood films. What's your candid take on this tricky situation folks? Is this a healthy development? Please post your comments...
