"I won't quit until I get an Oscar" - Jimmy Cliff

Reggae legend James Chambers better known as Jimmy Cliff says his induction in 2010 to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is only a stepping stone and not a signal he's about to retire. After fifty years in the business, the singer whose starring role in the film The Harder They Come turned reggae into a global phenomenon in the early seventies told French television station France 24 this morning he wont quit till he gets an Oscar because as he put it, "Acting is my first love".

Cliff who rode to fame on the wings of such mega hits as Vietnam and Reggae Night and his cover of Johnny Nash's "I can See Clearly Now" hinted that a sequel to The Harder They Come should go into production in two years. Amazingly, the healthy looking 64-year-old star with over 25 million albums sold Cliff still considers himself a "Festival artist" as opposed to a "Stadium act".
Music affects the world better than religion or politics, said the one time Rastafarian who later converted to Islam after a voyage of spiritual discovery to the "Mother Continent" of Africa. His latest album is titled Rebirth with a track titled One More which is an apt pointer because the greatest reggae star alive says "I've not written my best songs yet".
