Ugandan socialite Rubeleto faces attempted manslaughter charges

Ronald Ssemakula aka Rubeleto
A gun totting Ugandan socialite Ronald Ssemakula - aka Rubeleto - aka Engineer is facing charges for attempted manslaughter and possible murder after he shot two unarmed men outside a Kampala night club last Sunday, the Spy has gathered. According to a Red Pepper report, Rubeleto who had been drinking as he celebrated the Uganda Cranes 4-0 win against Congo Brazzaville staggered out of the famous celebrity hangout Silk Club and without provocation and for no apparent reason,  pulled the
trigger in Sylvester Stallone style - spraying bullets indiscriminately and hitting the two victims who are now battling for their lives in hospital. He later told police he shot the men because
he thought they were there to waylay him. Under the influence of alcohol, the socialite and wealthy entrepreneur who has been described as "pompous" simply drove away from the scene in his Porsche Prada after the outrageous  rampage. The Spy gathered that Rubeleto is an attention-seeking character who is different things to different people - some call him a "philanthropist" because he buys free rounds of drinks and gives fat tips in clubs whilst others see him as an arrogant bully who believes he's above the law and even owes people who've worked for him. The man who owns a string of businesses including real estate, livestock and a construction company is reported to have been banned from a club after threatening to shoot a bouncer and is known to frequently brandish his weapon on bar counters to intimidate onlookers. Rubeleto is also known to have threatened police officers and has pending traffic warrants. However, following last Sunday's shooting, the Kampala police boss Felix Andrew Kaweesi ordered his immediate arrest and is now in custody. His final charges will be determined by the victims' response to treatment but the Department of Public Prosecution also wants to ascertain if Rubeleto is mentally well and has ordered a medical assessment.
