NTA crashes with Dana Air disaster

In the wake of Sunday's Dana Air disaster, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has come under fire for failing to live up to expectations with its shambolic coverage of the breaking story. Apparently, whilst foreign channels and various internet platforms were supplying up-to-the-minute real time reports of the crash, the NTA which fancies itself as the "Largest Network In Africa" was repulsively napping - airing some irrelevant documentary programmes as if nothing had happened!
Indeed, as a Nigerian in the diaspora, the ineptness of certain NTA personalities and the packages they deliver have never ceased to appal me. From the way some presenters speak to the equipment, visuals and layout of their studios... completely depressing to say the least. The anchors come across as if they're either constipated or presenting under duress and I wonder how they actually found their way in front of the camera. Many can't even string sentences and the dictions of some are murderously hilarious. But most annoying is the trademark way they gleefully wrap-up their "packages"- In A-b-u-j-a, J-o-h-n  J-a-m-e-s bla-di-bla-di-bla. And to imagine that they all hold bamboozling strings of degrees and titles is incredible. Every time I watch the NTA news I feel like either smashing my telly or sending an SOS to whoever is in charge of that monstrosity. Audio quality is horrific- often inaudible, frequently badly synchronized sound with footage whilst links with corresponding regional stations are simply atrocious. In this digital age, the whole image of the NTA is so jurassic one wonders why things can't be like we see on some of the independent channels in the country and elsewhere in Africa - say South Africa - not to mention more advanced countries. What's with Nigeria and mediocrity? Please post your views and comments...
