Fake Dollar scam - Ugandan star stranded in India

Famous Ugandan artist Cindy is now stranded in India after she was paid with fake currency for her show. A former member of the group Blu3 Cindy was booked by a Ugandan promoter based in India for an undisclosed fee and she happily jetted off with her 11-month old child in tow.
According to reports just reaching us, the artist is now unable to pay her way back because the show's organiser paid her in fake US Dollar notes. As we filed this report, Cindy's husband was frantically trying to raise enough money back in Uganda to remit to her for her flight back home from the land of TaTa, Curry and Chapati. In the meantime, the SPY gathered that Cindy is being transported around in rickshaws rather than celebrity limos as she must have expected and she's not finding it funny. She was quoted as saying - "I wish the promoter who paid me was an Indian, I wouldn't be so mad but its actually a Ugandan guy who did this. It hurts more when its someone from home, there's no way I would expect a fellow Ugandan to do this to me". The SPY says - Too bad! How on earth does an artist get on a plane for an international engagement without a return ticket in hand and agreed fees in the bank? This is a very good lesson for bad (cash in hand)  business practice. It has not been possible to contact the promoter involved in this scam as his contact details were not immediately available.

  1. People say without business there's no showbusiness. Has this artist not got a manager?

  2. Doing business with "African Mentality" can be costly. Tough luck.
