Top South African DJ Euphonik in court for domestic violence

DJ Euphonik
DJ Bonang
You would have thought that when two of a country's highest profile DJ's ended up as lovers they'll be playing sweet music. Wrong. South Africa's most popular on air personalities - DJ Euphonik (5FM) and DJ Bonang Matheba (YFM) - are one such couple who appear glamorous in public but once behind closed doors, the only music you'll hear with these two was the sounds of slaps, kicks and pots and pans because physical, verbal and emotional abuse are the only tunes on their play list. This is the shocking revelation jumping out of documents tendered at a magistrate court hearing the case of abuse between the estranged lovers. But the case is far from cut and dry with the claim of one aggrieved party aiming to cancel out the other's. Matheba swears in one affidavit that DJ Euphonik whose real name is Themba Nkosi has been using her as his
punching bag almost from the beginning of their romance. "He hit me on the body and slapped me on the face", she says of the first assault she suffered at the hands of the 5FM DJ early in their relationship. "On another occasion, he slapped me across the face following and argument. He later apologised and we put the incident behind us. He assaulted me again in the same year, this time he punched me in the face while we were driving from his place to mine", she states. The Spy also gathered that on one occasion, DJ Euphonik beat Matheba so badly she had to hire professional make-up artists to conceal her facial bruises before attending an event. He had kicked her whilst down and damaged her mobile phone and lap top. But to counter all that, DJ Euphonik who is the respondent in the case submits that the lovely on air personality was a psycho who self-harmed to grab his attentions. The Spy gathered that the violent Euphonik  is known to have received therapy for anger management but it wasn't clear at the time of this report if he was still attending the sessions. The case which has two sides - "criminal assault" and "domestic violence"  continues through July and August.

  1. From what I've been reading on this blog lately, there seems to be a widespread violence among African celebrities from Nollywood sets to homes which is a very bad example to the viewing public
