"WE WISH OUR FATHER TONES DOWN HIS CREATIVITY" - CHARLY BOY'S DAUGHTER

Yvonne Mimi Oputa - daughter of Nigeria's number one eccentric showman Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy says he's not her father. Surprised? You shouldn't be because its not quite the first time that the head of what I like to call Nigeria's "Adam's Family" has been denied flat. The artist's own dad - yes, he does have one - retired Justice Oputa did just that not so long ago as part of their damage limitation exercise. Alright, so you know what I'm going to say next.... "Charly Boy" does not exist (outside the realms of show business). So, the beautiful and brainy single-mother-of-one for the umpteenth time attempts to hammer into the stubborn heads of us all that the weirdo character with the fear factor popularly known as Charly Boy is just her father's alter ego, an entertainment BRAND! In a somewhat rare interview, the public relations executive tells the Daily Post just how normal and even religious Charles Oputa really is.

Then after the impeccable marketing pitch she goes and ruins it all by saying: "I cant say I like Charly Boy that much even though I understand the character". So I guess she can imagine how disgusted the rest of us feel. She adds: "Charly Boy is a character like Spiderman and Superman", yea right. But those are no weirdos - they're "supermen" with "powers" who don't get kicks from pushing the public's tolerance levels to breaking point just to get attention and make a dollar or two.

And I guess Yvonne can accept that because she adds: "Our grandparents are not complaining, mummy Di is not complaining, we the children know who our father is even though sometimes we wish he tone down his creativity". I rest my case.
