Samuel Eto'o faces jail for tax fraud

Former Barcelona and Inter-Milan striker Samuel Eto'o is facing prison terms for alleged tax evasion. According to the Reuters news agency,  Eto'o conspired to evade corporate taxes to the tune of 3.5 million Euros from his image rights between 2006-2009 and prosecutors for Spain have asked a Barcelona High Court to begin proceedings before  a time deadline next Saturday that could exonerate the Cameroonian star. He is facing four charges each of which attracts up to five years in jail and up to 21million Euros in fines. The report says Eto'o who moved to Russia had established two companies in Hungary and Spain through which he paid reduced corporate tax rates.
