Linda Ikeji corners Blackberry thief

Our friend - the queen of Nigerian bloggers - Linda Ikeji is neck deep in a dilemma. Her Blackberry Bold 5 got pinched on Saturday whilst she was shopping at Mobos in Lagos and has obtained cctv footage of the drama but now she cannot decide whether or not to publish it and expose the female thief. When she broke the news yesterday, she asked her readers for their advice on what to do with "Exhibit A" and whilst a few played the holier than thou card appealing to her better judgement to let it go, the overwhelming majority clamoured for her to publish the footage.
As at this morning, Linda remained undecided but caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, she has published a series of stills that form a clear storyboard of the incident saying she intended to eventually release the video after getting her mum's approval. Incidentally the same suspect - a real pro - seen wearing a blue top in the footage had narrowly nicked another woman's wallet in the same store using the same technique only moments before Linda went in and fell victim. Whilst we sincerely empathise with Linda for her experience and honestly cant wait to see the the "action movie", the SPY wonders, is there's a Data Protection Act in force in Nigeria? If there is, then how the heck did Linda obtain that footage which should legally be in the possession of the Investigating police officer? By law, as the victim of the crime, she can view it after due process and within restricted environment but not handed it to brandish as she pleases.

Good question. There seems to be no rule of law in Nigeria and its a shame that even someone like Linda is practicing jungle justice

  2. Here's some good news for all your BlackBerry owners. GotoCamera, the world's leading surveillance, monitoring, and security service with over 100,000 customers from over 180 countries, has come out with a free BlackBerry app for their customers. All that one needs to do, is set-up an account with them and hook up a webcam to monitor their home, office or business. Once the account is set-up, you can access your cameras (snapshots and videos), view and manage your camera footage stored on the GotoCamera servers, and change your motion detection settings. The bestpart about this service? - It's FREE!
