As at July of last year, Nigeria had a population of well over 155 million people and fast rising. Therefore, the Spy finds it extremely baffling that the enterprising Nollywood actress Uche Jumbo thinks its a smart idea to launch her search for fresh Nigerian talent in the UK rather than on the ground.
Apparently she reckons that there are too many talent shows in the country already. What a joke! Whilst that may well be the case on the surface, one wonders if she has given second thought to the ratios of youth/graduate unemployment and how many people turn up for the many talent shows she's talking about?
We dare say the talent shows are not even nearly enough. Besides, just how many out-of-work Nigerian actors are in the UK? Assuming there are 5, 10. 15 or 20 of them they certainly aren't half as needy as the millions in Nigeria. Talk less of the fresh talent she's looking for.
The long and short of it is that the move is just to hype herself and her up-coming movie project - wham, gbam! - no more no less. Therefore the Spy thinks Uche must be ashamed of her selfishness.
